The typical British Summer weather unfortunately caused the Oberthur Primary School Rounders League to be a bit of a wash out this year, with many of the games being cancelled due to the very rainy summer term we all had to contend with. However, there were some teams that managed to rearrange fixtures so Well Done to: Rowanfield Junior, Springbank Academy, St. James C of E, Lakeside Primary, St. Marks C of E, St Gregory the Great School!

The Obethur Primary School Rounders League is for pupils in Year 5&6, teams made up of a maximum of 15 players and a minimum of 6. Due to the popularity of the league, with 16 School Teams entering this year, teams were randomly put into 4 leagues (Red, Blue, Yellow and Green) and the 4 teams within each league play each other once throughout June and July. The winners of each league then come together to play off in a Final- with the original finals date and the reserve date being ‘unplayable’ we went on games won and rounders scored.

The overall winners were Lakeside Primary School- congratulations to the team!

Their teacher, Mr. Bennett commented on how well all of the team played together, a special mention to go to 4 of his outstanding players; When fielding: Zoe Hopkinson (backstop) who made some superb catches, Joe Hocking (bowler) very accurate bowling making it very difficult for opponents and Matthew Burman (2nd base) excellent work in keeping the batting team at 1st base. Also when batting, Billy Scott who made some very big hits for the team!

Thank you to the Primary School Teachers for running the Rounders Club practices and organising the league fixtures, and also to Oburther Technologies for sponsoring the Primary School Rounders League this year.
