The event took place on Friday 1st June at East Glos Tennis Club, a fantastic venue for the young children to experience their first Tennis Competition. The competition, organised by Chris Warner, East Glos Community Coach was superbly run with Teams from the local Primary Schools including:Benhall Infants, Bishops Cleeve, Naunton Park, Charlton Kings and Cheltenham College.

A special mention has to be made to the Sports Leaders who took the roles as team manager- supporting and organising the young teams, also officials and scorers- doing a fantastic job as well as encouraging the young players to learn the rules and help keep score. The Leaders were from the Cheltenham and North Tewkesbury School Sport Network Leadership Academy, a combination of the best young leaders in Year 9 from across the District.

The level of tennis played was at a fantastic standard, courts and equipment were of an appropriate size and weight for the age group and they played to the rules of Mini Red Tennis. All participants received a certificate and medal, with the overall winner collecting individual trophies at the presentation at the end of the day.

The winners of the Year 1 + 2 competition was Naunton Park, with Benhall runners up.
The winners of the Year 3 + 4 competition was again Naunton Park with Chelt College Junior School runners up.

These 4 teams will be representing the District at The Gloucestershire School Games on Friday 15th June at Oxstalls Indoor Tennis Centre, Gloucester. Well Done to everyone that took part, thanks to the Leadership Academy and East Glos Tennis Club for hosting!
