On Monday 21st November, 300 Year 3 pupils from around Cheltenham flocked to Balcarras School for a Quicksticks festival. The festival was organised by Balcarras’ BTEC students with help from other year 11’s. The day began with the youngsters getting coached in various hockey skills, including shooting, dribbling, passing and defending. This was followed by a small tournament with teams of 6 or 7 competing against each other. The day was a huge success, with all the children enjoying themselves and getting a chance to give Quicksticks hockey a go. Thanks to all of the BTEC students for organising the event and to everyone else who helped make the day run smoothly.

Thankyou to all the primary schools that have become members of Cheltenham & North Tewkesbury School Sport Network. The vast majority of schools have signed up with 40 out of the 49 schools in the area buying into the network. Schools have the opportunity to buy in at Gold, Silver or Bronze level at varying rates. Schools receive excellent value for money with the packages and can select entry into festivals, coaching support, curriculum support and CPD to impact their school with regard to school sport.
